MPs say they should unite to solve child poverty at event by Christian charity

by Cara Bentley

Christian charity XLP hosted a conference on Wednesday, encouraging people to think about how they can solve child poverty.

With spoken word, interviews and a panel, the conference highlighted how serious child poverty is in the UK and how much poverty is linked to insecure housing, temporary work and family breakdowns.

Lammy and Smith showed agreement in their desire to solve the causes and spoke about the welfare state and positive solutions they'd seen.

However, the resounding tone was one that encouraged those in the audience to think about how they can help child poverty themselves and to be hopeful about the solutions.

Patrick Regan, the founder of XLP, spoke to Premier about how the conference went and how it's not just down to politicians to solve.
