Country star Morgen Wallen has launched a merch line referencing his surprise SNL exit, where he declared: “Praise the Lord and go vols!” before leaving stage.
Wallen gave a half hug to his co-host, Oscar winner Mikey Madison, and left the stage early, as credits rolled for America’s prime-time entertainment show.
The show’s hosts typically stay on stage during the credits, and join the cast and crew for an after party.
Wallen has a reputation for speaking about faith issues. When asked about US’ issues with mass shootings, Wallen told The Christian Post: “I’m a person that has faith and I believe that a lot of people have neglected God.”
“We don’t put the Ten Commandments in school anymore. We just neglect everything, and people act like the Ten Commandments is something so terrible. I mean, it’s a way to live. I think we all could agree on what they say.
“I believe in God,” said Wallen. “I believe that He’s real, and I believe He has control over a lot of things. I think throughout history, there have been a lot of countries that have turned their back on Him, and the result is not great. Hopefully, we can get something figured out.”
Wallen appeared on SNL to perform his latest song, ‘Just in Case’.
He then declared: “Praise the Lord and go vols!”. The latter statement related to the University of Tennessee’s volunteer basketball team, which was playing the University of Houston’s March Madness tournament on Sunday night, and lost.
After his early exit, the singer posted an Instagram story of an airport runway captioned: “Get me to God’s own country.” Wallen has since released a line of apparel emblazoned with the slogan.
