Andy Burnham has continued to make appointments to his ministerial team, including Christian Labour MPs.
Those already announced in his Cabinet include Jonathan Reynolds, new Secretary of State Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, who was chair of Christians on the Left for nine years.
Sir Stephen Timms, another former chair of Christians on the Left, remains as Minister of State for Social Security and Disability. He has been conducting a review into whether disability payments are fit for purpose, which provided an interim report earlier in July and will provide recommendations later this year.
Florence Eshalomi has been appointed a minister in the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government, with her portfolio yet to be announced. She told The Tablet in 2024 that “the Church has been an anchor of my life”, attending Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Brixton.
This article will be updated as Burnham announces further ministerial appointments.
