Grammy-nominated artist Mike Posner has rewritten the lyrics to his hit song ‘I Took a Pill in Ibiza’, revealing he has found Christian faith and a new direction in life 13 years after writing the original track.
In an Instagram post shared on 22nd January 2026, Posner reflected on his past before explaining that “thirteen years have passed” and his life had radically changed, saying he had “found faith” and love.
Online, the singer shared rewritten lyrics that reimagined the song, alongside a photo of himself holding a Bible open at Corinthians.
He revealed that he wrote the original song while living in Los Angeles and searching for meaning during the height of his fame. In the updated version, he referenced being 12 years older, ten years sober, and paid tribute to late DJ Avicii, who featured in the original lyrics.
The new words also described leaving Los Angeles, wanting to start a family, and turning away from choices that “had me headed towards tragedy”.
In the chorus, Posner explicitly credited God for restoring his purpose, singing that he was giving his life “up to God” and that faith had brought him “back onstage singing”.
Posner shared that he had since moved to Austin with “the love of my life” to begin a new chapter. He also shared that he recently performed the revised version live for the first time, with the audience responding enthusiastically.
