It might not be the fanfare send off that would normally be given to the royal consort, but all eyes this weekend will still be on the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh.

Just 30 guests will be present at St George's Chapel in Windsor where they will be sat socially distant from others and wearing masks.

Two church leaders will oversee the event. While Justin Welby is one of the most recognisable clergy in the UK, he'll be joined by Rt Rev David Conner, the Dean of Windsor at the service.

The Dean is responsible for all events at St George's which sits within the grounds of Windsor Castle so is often seen at royal events.

Rt Rev David Conner took on the post in 1998. He's previously served as a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Norwich as well as Bishop to the Armed Forces.

He serves as a domestic chaplain to the Queen, meaning he's one of the closest clergy members to the royal family.

Born in Kent in 1947, after graudating from Oxford he was ordained as a deacon in 1971. He served in various chaplaincy posts before being appointed a bishop in 1994.

In 2010, he was awarded the Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in the Queen's Honours list. The award recognises personal service to the monarch.

The Dean was most recently seen conducting the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank. He was also involved in the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

He himself is married and has two children.

In details released by Buckingham Palace, it says: "The dean will give the commendation as the coffin is lowered into the royal vault, Garter Principal King of Arms will then proclaim His Royal Highness's styles and titles from the sanctuary."
