Mark Wahlberg starts every day on his hands and knees in prayer, he says.

The actor told Fox News that prayer allows him to face whatever the day “throws” at him.

“I’ve just passed the 50 mark," Whalberg said. "As you get older…life can become overwhelming at times."

“I’m constantly pursuing a relationship with God," he added.

During the interview with Fox News, Mark Wahlberg wore a black cross marked on his forehead, a symbol for Ash Wednesday. He is one of several celebrities, including Chris Pratt and Jonathon Roumie, who have collaborated with prayer app Hallow to guide people through prayer, fasting and meditation this Lenten season.

Wahlberg concluded by emphasising the link between prayer and mental health: “Having a spiritual life is so important for our sanity and wellbeing”.
