Liam Fox brands gay marriage 'divisive'

The former Defence Secretary Liam Fox has said gay marriage laws are divisive, wrong and undermine freedom to worship. And he seems to think the safeguards that would be put in place to protect those who don't want to hold the services would be defeated in the courts.  Anglican vicar George Pitcher is the former Religious Editor at the Telegraph.

He told Premier's News Hour agrees with Dr Fox and doesn't think it's been thought through:

In the House of Commons yesterday, the Second Church Estates Commissioner, Sir Tony Baldry MP, urged the government not to rush bringing forward the legislation on same-sex marriage until draft clauses on the protections for Church and faith groups were right.

He said:

"Whatever the views of the Church of England and other faith groups might be on same-sex marriage, I am sure the Leader of the House will agree that it is in everyone's interests that we get the quadruple lock provision properly sorted, and that it will not help the Government's handling of the measure if there is any confusion about these provisions on Second Reading."
