Kanye West has announced the return of his Sunday Service events, reigniting both excitement and controversy among Christian audiences.
The rapper, who now goes by Ye, revealed on Instagram that the faith-based gatherings will resume on 16th March, sharing a screenshot of a text exchange with Sunday Service Choir director Jason White.
First launched in 2019, Ye’s Sunday Services featured a gospel choir – often dressed in the rapper’s clothing line, leading praise and worship. While some Christians have celebrated the events as a way for non-believers to experience God’s presence, others have questioned their legitimacy, seeing them as more of an exclusive celebrity spectacle than a true worship service.
However, Ye’s latest announcement comes amid fresh controversy. Just hours after confirming the return of Sunday Service, he faced backlash for posting an image of white robes and a pointed hood resembling those worn by the Ku Klux Klan, captioned “outfit of the day.”
The post has been widely condemned, adding to a long list of past accusations of antisemitism and admiration for Adolf Hitler that have tarnished the rapper’s reputation.
Meanwhile, a church building previously purchased by Ye as part of his ministry expansion in Los Angeles has burned to the ground. The $1.5 million property in San Fernando Valley, reportedly bought from Cornerstone Christian Church, was destroyed in a fire last October.
