The daughter of Dr. Jordan Peterson has described his battle with pneumonia as a “spiritual attack.”

Dr. Peterson, an author and psychologist who has often spoken in ways that suggest spiritual or Christian sympathies, has reportedly been recovering after spending nearly a month in intensive care battling pneumonia and sepsis.

Mikhaila Peterson said in a YouTube video, “We don’t have a better explanation for his neurological symptoms at the moment other than spiritual attacks.”

In the video, she described the 62-year-old’s condition as “near death,” saying the past few months had been “terrifying” for their family.

“He’s been suffering for the last number of years with unexplainable neuropathy and weakness,” she said.

“After almost a month in the ICU, he’s been moved out to a less urgent floor. Praise God for that.”

Mikhaila explained that her father’s health crisis followed a series of neurological problems that doctors believe stem from chronic inflammatory response syndrome, caused by long-term mold exposure.

Dr. Peterson, known for his best-selling book 12 Rules for Life and his work with U.S. conservative media organization The Daily Wire, has faced several medical challenges in recent years.

His daughter said his sensitivity to medication makes treatment difficult but that he is now “hopefully recovering.”

“It’s been heartbreaking and brutal,” she said, “but it looks like things are headed in the right direction.”

She added that the family is “relying heavily on the Lord through this and seeing miracles around us.”

No timeline has been given for Peterson’s full recovery, but his daughter said his family and team are continuing his projects during his treatment.
