Jordan Peterson's wife converts to Catholicism after battle with cancer

by Lydia Davies

Tammy Peterson, wife of renowned Canadian author and psychologist Jordan Peterson, has converted to Catholicism, attributing her recovery from terminal cancer to the power of praying the rosary and other Catholic prayers.

Her conversion was formalised during the Easter Vigil Mass at Holy Rosary Church in Toronto, Ontario.

Mr Peterson shared his thoughts on his wife's newfound faith with EWTN News, noting, "It's been very good for her." He also said "it's been great" for their marriage.

He elaborated further: "She's pursued her efforts at enlightening herself more thoroughly, and this investigation of Catholicism has been key to that, she's much more who she is. And that's great because I love who she is."

Regarding his personal faith journey, Mr Peterson mentioned that it was "unlikely" he would convert to Catholicism himself as he exists "on the borders of things."

Images from the Easter Vigil ceremony on social media captured significant moments such as the couple holding candles during the Mass and Mrs Peterson receiving a blessing as she formally entered the Catholic Church.

Mrs Peterson opened up about what led her to embrace Catholicism in an earlier interview with the news outlet. Diagnosed with untreatable kidney cancer in 2019 and given less than a year to live, a friend gifted her rosary beads and joined her in prayer for two hours daily for five weeks.

On the fifth day of their prayers, she experienced significant health improvements—a change she attributes to divine intervention.

Mrs Peterson said now finds profound peace in praying the rosary daily on her porch at home. She views it as "a story of suffering and redemption," offering focus amidst chaos.
