Youtuber and internet personality Joe Weller has told social media followers that he has become a Christian.
“I have been saved by the Lord Jesus Christ, and it is the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” Weller announced on Sunday, in an Instagram video filmed in his car. “I thought it was a load of nonsense. But when it makes sense, it really does make sense!”
The 30-year-old has been making YouTube content since 2012, and has amassed over 5.32 million subscribers.
Popular for his comedy content and online challenges, Weller’s videos often involve him travelling with fellow YouTubers, partying and undertaking physical feats, such as surviving in the Amazon rainforest for nine days, or camping for three days without food.
“I have tried everything - everything to feel genuinely fulfilled and at peace,” Weller emphasised. “Work, diet, travel... fame, money. I tried everything that seemed like it could work for me.
“He never gave up on me. When I was at rock bottom, and the only place I could turn was to Him… I am so, so grateful that he never gave up on me.”
“He has transformed me,” the YouTuber continued emphatically. “He has renewed my mind. He is the truth, the life, the way that we are all searching for.”
Weller has received mixed reactions online, but fellow YouTubers KSI and Niko have supported his message, reacting with heart emojis.
Christian football page Ballers In God replied: "What an incredible testimony. All glory to God for His faithfulness and the way He continues to transform lives."
