Comedian Jimmy Carr has said his Christian faith played a key role in his decision to wait until the age of 26 to lose his virginity.

Speaking on The Louis Theroux Podcast, the 53-year-old explained that growing up as a Christian influenced his attitudes toward sex, alongside his close relationship with his mother.

He told the podcast he was “a religious guy growing up, a Christian,” adding that his faith helped him accept that “it happens at different times” for different people.

“I think it’s very good to talk about this because there is a lot of pressure on young men to lose their virginity,” Carr said.

During the conversation, Carr also reflected on how modern culture and social media distort expectations, noting that “comparison [on social media] is the thief of joy.”

When discussing the advice he would give his younger self, Carr said he would not change his past, believing his journey shaped who he became.

Carr has been in a long-term relationship with Karoline Copping since 2001.
