Interfaith vigil at Westminster Abbey after Paris massacres

by Hannah Tooley

Sikhs and Christians spoke together about the horrors that unfolded on Friday evening and prayed together for a peaceful world.

Sarah Dickson from Liberal Democrat Christian Forum told Premier: "It sends a real signal across the world that we're here together and no matter what faith we don't think this is okay and we are standing together with people who've been affected - it sends a real sense of solidarity."

She also said that placing blame and dividing people would not achieve anything: "It's just really sad to see how broken communities have got - and how un-God-like that is and how un-Christ-like people are acting.

"We needed to do something in response - and what we could do it pray."

"When there's a real sense of divisiveness we wanted to do something that brought people together to stand in solidarity," she said.

A Sikh man, Jasvir Singh, spoke about all faiths sharing the grief together following the attacks, as well as the need to rebuild as one.

On Wednesday two terror suspects died in a seven-hour siege in northern Paris.

The man who allegedly masterminded the attacks that killed more than 129 people was thought to have been holed up in an apartment there.

Seven people were arrested in the siege.
