'I am, and always will be, guided by my faith and trust in God': George Foreman vows to fight sexual abuse allegations

by Marcus Jones

US heavyweight boxer turned entrepreneur George Foreman says he is the victim of exhortation claiming two women are falsely accusing him of sexually abusing them.

The 73-year-old, who speaks openly about his Christian faith, says over the past 6 months the women have been trying to make him pay millions of dollars over alleged incidents which took place in the 1970s.

Media reports suggest after his refusal to pay out, legal action will be filed this week in Los Angeles.

Vowing to continue to fight the case, Foreman said: "I am, and always will be, guided by my faith and trust in God.

"I will work with my lawyers to fully and truthfully expose my accusers' scheme and defend myself in court. I don't pick fights, but I don't run away from them either.

"I adamantly and categorically deny these allegations. The pride I take in my reputation means as much to me as my sports accomplishments, and I will not be intimidated by baseless threats and lies."

Foreman is a two time boxing champion, rising to fame through his battle with Muhammad Ali. Becoming a Christian at the age of 28, he became an ordained minister.

In more recent years, his name became synonymous with a grilling machine. Over 100 million of them have been sold across the world.
