Good Morning Britain viewers have taken to social media to vent their frustrations after host Richard Madeley “grilled” her about her newfound faith in God.
Moffatt is due to appear on BBC 2’s Pilgrimage: The Road to the Scottish Isles in the coming weeks; the Gogglebox star said that she found God whilst filming the show, and now considers herself a Christian.
However, Madeley wasn’t letting her get away without a few burning questions.
As Scarlett began to reflect on her trip, Richard interrupted, saying: “So what do you believe now then, Scarlett?"
As she began to answer, he cut in again: "Let's go for the triple - hang on - do you believe in God?
"Do you believe in an afterlife, in Heaven? And do you believe that Jesus was the son of God?"
Scarlett confirmed that she was, indeed, now a Christian but is still getting used to the idea of saying it aloud.
Several viewers took to social media after watching the segment, expressing disappointment in how the host handled the situation.
Madeley – who doesn’t believe in God – has previously shared his frustration with Christians “cherry-picking” the Bible, saying believers ought to follow the book in its entirety.
He accused the Church of England of “institutionally self-harming” and “knowing on it’s own entrails” but “parsing” of the “eternal, non-negotiable truths” the Church is supposed to believe in.
