St Bene’t’s church in Cambridge has released the details of Rev Anna Matthews’ funeral after her sudden loss shocked England’s Anglican community.

Rev Matthews was found dead at her home on March 8th after she took her own life.

Following the tragic news, social media was flooded with tributes for the 44-year-old, describing her as “great preacher, a very gifted pastor” and "someone who stood up for people on the margins".

On 25th April, Rev Matthews' coffin will be received at St Bene’t’s in a private ceremony attended by family and close friends. This will be followed by an opportunity for the congregation to be in church for Evening Prayer followed by a period of silent vigil, ending with Compline.

Her funeral will then take place on 26th April at Ely Cathedral at 12.30pm and will be presided by Rt Rev Stephen Conway.

The following day, and after a service at St Alban’s Abbey at 1.30pm, Rev Matthews will be buried in the grounds of the Abbey.

A spokesperson for St Bene't's Church told Cambridgeshire Live: "Please continue to pray for Anna's husband Stephen, her mother Maggie, her sisters Gillian and Rachel, Stephen's brother Eric, for their families, and for her close friends."
