Evangelist Franklin Graham has labeled Seattle a “woke city” after a Sean Feucht concert nearly faced shutdown by LGBTQ protesters.
Campaigners attempted to block Feucht’s Revive in 25 tour at Gas Works Park, while the activist group Lavender Rights held a counter-rally at the same time.
In 2022, Feucht drew controversy for denouncing “gender confusion [and] sexual perversion.” That same year, he accused Seattle officials of “discrimination toward believers” after a worship rally—also planned for Gas Works Park—was canceled due to COVID concerns.
This time, however, his concert went ahead, with Seattle’s mayor stating that shutting it down would violate Feucht’s First Amendment right to free speech.
Franklin Graham posted on X:
“Another woke, blue city trying to shut down a Christian event.
Worship leader @SeanFeucht has faced harsh pushback from LGBTQ activists who tried to get the permit revoked for the event he was holding today in Seattle. I’m thankful that Seattle’s mayor stood by the law.”
The evangelist and CEO of the Billy Graham Association also invited his followers to pray for Feucht.
Earlier this summer, Feucht again came under fire over allegations of spiritual abuse and misuse of funding during his time at Bethel Church.
Feucht strongly rejected the claims, telling Premier they were a “complete sham,” made by “embittered former volunteers” who “have been attacking the ministry for over a decade.”
