A former Barcelona and PSG star has begun a new chapter as a Christian preacher following his release from prison.
The 42-year-old football legend recently shared his testimony at the Elim Girona Evangelical Church in Spain, describing how faith carried him through what he called “the darkest moments” of his life, as reported by MWN.
“In the middle of storms and suffering, there is always a messenger from God,” he said. “That messenger took me to church during the darkest moments of my life.”
Alves, now calling himself “a disciple of Jesus Christ,” told the congregation, “I made a covenant with God. We must believe, my brothers. I am proof that God keeps His promises.”
After serving 14 months in prison before being acquitted of a sexual assault charge, Alves has turned to preaching, worship and sharing his story publicly.
