In a remarkable act of Christian forgiveness, Danny Abdallah, the Sydney father who lost three children to a drunk driver in 2020, has spoken publicly about why he chose to forgive the man responsible, Samuel Davidson.

Appearing on The Kyle & Jackie O Show and in a moving 7NEWS Spotlight documentary, Abdallah explained that his decision was rooted not only in faith but also in the desire to save his marriage and support his surviving children.

“They say 65 percent of marriages fail after losing one child, let alone three,” Abdallah said.

“Do I pour bitterness, anger, and revenge—or love, compassion, and forgiveness?”

The documentary shows Abdallah visiting Davidson in one of Australia’s toughest prisons.

During their emotional meeting, Davidson, who has 10 years left on his sentence, expressed deep remorse.

“Danny, I’m really sorry to you and your whole family for what I’ve done. I’ll regret it for the rest of my life," he said.

“Yeah, I’ve forgiven you already," Abdallah replied.

Davidson described the forgiveness as life-changing.

“It meant that I’ve got a second chance at life... he’s given me everything," he said.

Abdallah reflected: “I could see that he’s living in a place of guilt. I chose to forgive him early and focus on my family.”

The encounter—centered on forgiveness, remorse, and redemption—powerfully illustrates the Christian belief that forgiveness is a choice, one that can break the cycle of pain, promote healing, and transform lives.

Through their i4give Foundation, the Abdallah family continues to spread a message of grace and reconciliation, encouraging Australians and the Church to choose love and forgiveness over revenge.
