Parents are four times more likely to break up if they're cohabiting rather than married.
That's the finding of extensive research by the Marriage Foundation which looked at the results of a survey of 40,000 people.
It's discovered that the average break-up rate of married parents is one-point-three per cent per year, compared to 5.3% for unmarried couples. Analyst Harry Benson told Premier's News Hour it's frustrating that this clear evidence is not being heard by enough people.
