Details of Pope Francis' trip to Africa revealed

by Hannah Tooley

The pontiff will travel to Kenya, Uganda, and the Central African Republic.

The Vatican has said that the Pope will arrive in Kenya in late November, staying in the capital Nairobi.

More than ten events are planned during the Holy Father's stay, including a large Mass at the University of Nairobi, according to Catholic World News.

The Pope will later travel to Uganda for a two day trip and visit the shrines of 23 Anglicans and 22 Catholics who were martyred - after refusing to submit to the advances of King Mwanga II between 1885-87.

The Holy See Press Office has confirmed that, despite a resurgence in violence, the Pope plans to visit the Central African Republic at the end of November as well.

Different groups have been working together to try and achieve peace in the nation; the country's leading Catholic prelate, Protestant leader, and Muslim cleric have been discussing pathways to peace.

The Pope will also celebrate Mass in the capital's cathedral and will meet with the evangelical Protestant community, as well as a visit a mosque and a refugee camp.

Earlier this year the Pope travelling to Cuba and the United States on papal tours.
