UFC star, Conor McGregor has spoken publicly about his Christian faith after revealing a dream to erect the largest statue of Jesus Christ in Ireland.

The 37-year-old former MMA fighter shared the idea on social media on Sunday, saying he wanted to create “a massive monument to our nation’s faith”, inspired by a huge statue currently being built in Armenia.

Writing on Instagram, McGregor said Armenia’s project “looks magnificent” and added: “Bravo Armenia!”

The caption said: "I have a dream to construct the largest statue of Jesus Christ in Ireland."

McGregor referenced plans for a 77-meter statue of Jesus Christ on Mount Hatis near Yerevan, which is set to become the tallest of its kind in the world. The monument is being funded by Armenian businessman Gagik Tsarukyan and is intended as a national landmark and tourist attraction.

He shared what appeared to be an AI-generated image of a giant Jesus statue on the Cliffs of Moher, describing his vision as a celebration of Ireland’s Christian heritage.

He later linked the idea to the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, writing: “May the Holy Spirit renew you and remind you, you are loved!”

The comments came shortly after McGregor married his long-term partner Dee Devlin and followed a series of posts in which he praised God and spoke about faith, purpose and gratitude.

Reaction online was mixed. Some followers encouraged him to pursue the idea, with one writing “Ireland deserves a landmark like that”, while others criticised the proposal.

McGregor has not announced any formal plans, funding details or locations.
