The advice for churches has changed again, including private prayer on the list on activities no longer allowed.
Live-streaming without a congregation is one of the few reasons a church can be opened.
The Government advice describes the exceptions to these rules:
| "Funerals, where the congregation is immediate family (with provision for a carer, if required) or a friend - in the case that no family members are attending. A distance of 2 metres is to be maintained between every household group, as per Public Health England guidelines. "A minister of religion, to go to their place of worship may broadcast an act of worship, whether over the internet or otherwise. "For the purpose of hosting essential voluntary or public service, such as food banks, homeless services, and blood donation sessions." |
The Prime Minister appeared to suggest all churches buildings must close for three weeks when he spoke to the country on Monday night.
"To ensure compliance with the Government's instruction to stay at home, we will immediately close all shops selling non-essential goods, including clothing and electronic stores and other premises including libraries, playgrounds and outdoor gyms, and places of worship; we will stop all gatherings of more than two people in public - excluding people you live with; and we'll stop all social events, including weddings, baptisms and other ceremonies, but excluding funerals."
A number of church groups have decided to close all their buildings.
