Church of Ireland has confirmed that a member of staff has been suspended pending the outcome of a police investigation into allegations of sexual assault.
The development comes after a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of offences including rape and later released on bail.
A report was made to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) following an incident in Moira, County Down, on 15 May.
PSNI said its investigation remains ongoing. A spokesperson for the Church of Ireland said "no further comment will be provided".
The Church of Ireland has approximately 343,000 members, with 219,000 based in Northern Ireland and 124,000 in the Republic of Ireland.
