Tributes are pouring in for a church leader who lost her life in a triple stabbing in Manchester.

Alberta Obinim, 43, was killed in the attack at her family's home in the Gorton area on Sunday 18th August. Her husband, Joshua Obinim, and their daughter are currently in critical condition.

A spokesperson from the Blessed Baptist Temple, where Alberta and Joshua led the women's wing told The Independant he had known Alberta for over 16 years and described her as a "vibrant" and dedicated member of the city's Ghanaian community. “She was a wonderful person who got along with everyone.

“She was a loving mother, and her presence always brought joy. It’s heartbreaking that something like this has happened.”

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a 17-year-old girl, a 43-year-old woman, and a 64-year-old man were involved in the incident at a property on Barnard Road, Gorton. Police believe the suspect was known to the victims and responded quickly to the emergency call, arresting a suspect within minutes.

Detective Superintendent Toby Facey acknowledged the shock and concern felt across the community after the incident. “Our thoughts are with the affected families during this difficult time,” he told the outlet. “We are doing everything possible to support them and uncover the full details of this incident.”

Police are actively investigating and have increased patrols in the area. They are calling for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from around Barnard Road at approximately 11 pm to come forward to assist with their inquiries.
