Christians encouraged to send Easter cards to persecution victims

Action by Christians Against Torture has created a list of people being punished for their beliefs, on it includes a priest facing threats for promoting human rights advocacy in Cuba.

It also includes an Indonesian teacher imprisoned on political charges and a Pakistani MP risking her safety by speaking out on behalf of religious minorities.

Bishop Declan Lang is the Chair of the Catholic Bishops' Conference Department of International Affairs and wants to show Christians around the world that they're still being remembered in prayer.

He told Premier: "The idea is to have that sense of solidarity with them so they know they're not a forgotten people.

"We're about to celebrate Easter, we're celebrating the mystery of Christ's death leading to resurrection and we're saying to these people have hope, as their sufferings can lead to something new and new life."

If you would like to send a card please see Action by Christians Against Torture list: http://www.acatuk.org.uk/EastercardList2015.pdf
