A Christian medic in Pakistan has had his pharmacy, clinic and home set on fire after accusations he'd shared blasphemous content online.
Kamran Gill was arrested on 8 October for allegedly sharing a previously posted video reportedly containing blasphemous material, that he’d received from another Facebook user.
According to anti-persecution charity Voice of the Martyrs, the following day, activists gathered outside his clinic and the family's adjoining residence. The mob broke in, damaged the property and then set fire to the building in the village of Gharial Kalan, Punjab Province.
Gill’s family and other Christians in the village were forced to flee due to the threat of violence.
Those responsible for the attack fled the scene, but police have since detained five suspects.
Kamran’s family and other village residents have now returned home, but Voice of the Martyrs said they continue to face uncertainty and concerns for their security.
