Christian charity awards a million grants after record generosity

by Donna Birrell

Stewardship, a Christian charity which manages donations from churches, charities and individuals, has issued over a million grants for the first time.

The grants, totalling £134m were made to 12,000 church, charity and Christian partners. The amount was over twice the UK average for Donor Advised Funds (DAF) at 68%.

The figures, revealed in Stewardship’s 2025 annual report show that the charity received a record £161m in gifts which included a one-off amount of £32m.

Stewardship’s Chief Executive, Janie Oliver said: “In a season when many churches and charities are navigating real pressures, it has been so encouraging to witness both the resilience and commitment of our donors, and the extraordinary impact of the ministries they support.

“However, what matters most aren't the numbers, but the stories of practical help and hope that they represent. Behind every number is a life changed, a church worker sustained, a community strengthened, a charity equipped, a family supported.”

The report also found that Stewardship’s generosity challenge for Lent known as 40acts, returned with over 43,000 participants and generated £0.3m in one-off gifts.

Janie Oliver added: “These stories remind us that the true measure of our work is not financial growth alone, but the Gospel impact that generosity makes possible. We give thanks to God, our donors and partners for all that we have achieved together in 2025”.

Stewardship was founded in 1906 with the mission of "advancing the Kingdom through active generosity".
