Christian Bake Off star Benjamina on show's move from BBC

by Aaron James

Benjamina, 23 and a teaching assistant from London, made it through to the fourth round of the programme last week after judge Paul called her chocolate bread "wallpaper paste".

Paul later called her Showstopper bake "gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous."

Amid sky-high ratings the BBC lost Great British Bake Off to Channel 4 because it could not bid the amount demanded by Love Productions, which produces the show.

The move has prompted presenters Mel and Sue (below) to quit.

Speaking on Premier's Inspirational Breakfast, Benjamina said: "It's quite exciting to know that we're going to be the last BBC bakers. It's a bit weird.

"It's a bit sad that the new bakers aren't going to have Mel and Sue in the tent, because they are absolutely amazing.

"Mel and Sue... they are always right on time, always there to lighten up the mood and make you laugh. They do really help once you're actually baking."

Benjamina also told Premier how her relationship with God has helped her through the competition: "My faith just helps me to keep calm and to stay focussed - and to not worry too much or get too anxious about anything.

"In the bigger picture, we are just making bakes in a tent."
