Jonathan Roumie has said he still deals with PTSD from crucifixion scenes filmed for the latest season of “The Chosen”.

Roumie, who portrays Jesus in the hit series, shared his reflections on the new season in a conversation with activist Lila Rose.

Describing the filming of scenes leading up to and including Christ’s crucifixion, Roumie said it was “the hardest thing [they’ve] ever done” for the cast and crew.

Speaking about the emotional and mental toll of the role, he said he still deals with “PTSD from the experience of reenacting the scourging and…crucifixion”.

Despite the impact of the scenes, Roumie said he was grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord in that capacity, describing it as a “sacrifice”.

He added that while the role may not have been as physically taxing as portrayals by some other actors, he suffered a torn AC joint during filming, which was exacerbated when he had to use the shoulder to carry the cross.

“I had asked the Lord that if there was any way I could experience a fraction…I would do that as an offering," he said.

Roumie also spoke of accounts of conversions he had received from viewers of the series, adding that “the Lord is using it”.
