Author and broadcaster Chine McDonald has been named as the new director of the Christian think tank 'Theos'.

McDonald's former roles include Director of Communications at the Evangelical Alliance and Head of Public Engagement at Christian Aid. She has a background in journalism and is the author of 'God Is Not a White Man: And Other Revelations'. 

Theos tweeted:

"We are delighted to announce the appointment of Chine McDonald as our new Director.

"Chine is a highly-respected author, public theologian, speaker and broadcaster with 16 years’ experience in journalism, media and communication."

Theos, which is funded by the Bible Society, says its mission is to "stimulate intelligent debate" about the place of religion in society. It does this through conducting in-depth research, publishing commentary and holding events. 

One recent report from the group examined the role of chaplains during the Covid-19 pandemic. Another explored what Christian theology can contribute to the conversation about economic inequality.

Chine is due to join the team in January 2022.
