Britons told to celebrate Christmas and not 'winter holidays' by equality chief

by Hannah Tooley

David Isaac has stressed a "common sense" approach to religion at work, saying that freedom of believe is a fundamental human right.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, he said employers are worried about "doing anything discriminatory regarding their Muslim or Jewish staff."

The discussion comes after a cinema chain banned an advert featuring The Lord's Prayer, it said it does not promote any religious advertising on its screens.

Dame Louise Casey has also put weight behind celebrating Christmas saying it is a British tradition.

New EHRC guidelines on religion in the workplace will be published later this week.
