According to The Washington Post, people in the town of Medjugorje are hoping that Pope Francis might stop off in the town when he visits next month to celebrate an outdoor Mass in Saravejo.
So far more than 50,000 people have already registered to attend.
Pilgrims and residents are thought to be attending and the site has drawn in believers since 1981 when six young people said they often had visions of the Virgin Mary.
Residents in the town stress the importance that the Vatican does not rush the decision, which it has been looking into for five years.
The investigation finished last year, but the results have not been announced.
