Ruslan Sokolovsky, 22, was arrested after he was filmed catching Pokémon at the height of the gaming craze in the Church of All Saints in Yekaterinburg at the beginning of August.
He has been in pre-trial detention since October.
The blogger is accused of inciting religious hatred after uploading the video showing him playing the popular smart phone game in a church built on the spot where the family of Russian tsar, Nicholas II, was killed.
In the video he mentions that he was aware he could face a prison sentence for his actions.
"How can one offend by entering a church with a smartphone?" Sokolovsky asks viewers.
"I decided to just catch some Pokemon in church because, why not?
"I believe it's both safe and not prohibited by law. Let's go."
Sokolovsky faces a possible sentence of seven-and-a-half years in prison if convicted.
A 21-year-old woman was also charged with "inciting religious hatred" in February after using a church candle to light a cigarette.
