Bishop of Portsmouth welcomes Liverpool Care Pathway axe

An official review of a controversial NHS care programme used with terminally ill patients has recommended it be scrapped. The Liverpool Care Pathway withdraws treatment, food and water from sedated patients in their final days. But the review claims the practice has been used "as an excuse for poor-quality care". The Bishop of Portsmouth the Rt Revd Philip Egan told Premier's News Hour why he also wants to see the LCP phased out:
