Bishop of Manchester speaks out against Ched Evans

by Desmond Busteed

It's understood the convicted rapist has agreed personal terms on a deal to join League One club.

Rt Revd David Walker also suggested the player was 'unrepentant', which he told his 3,500 Twitter followers ruled him out as a future role model.

In a tweet, he said: "Just done piece on Ched Evans for @GranadaReports 6pm. Suggested we remember the woman he raped. + Unrepentant rapist can't be role model."

The signing's expected to be completed after sponsor Zen Office gave assurances it wouldn't terminate its contract with the club.

Sources suggest the former Wales striker is in line to make his debut in a match against Doncaster at the weekend.
