Billy Graham Rapid Response Team deployed to Queen's residences

by Sophie Drew

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team have been deployed to three of the Queen's residences to minister to people following her death.

The crisis team, set up by Franklin Graham in tribute to the work of his late father, offers pastoral support to communities in the wake of critical events.

Chaplains have been posted at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Holyroodhouse.

More than 20 of the volunteers will be offering prayer and counsel outside the King's London residence, as thousands of well-wishers gather to lay floral tributes and pay their respects to the monarch.

"We are so saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty the Queen," said Nigel Fawcett-Jones, manager of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team and assistant head of ministry in the UK.

"We are thankful for her leading the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth so well over so many years. The death of the Queen will add to the insecurity and fear that people are currently experiencing and we want them to know that there is hope in the Gospel message and through faith in Jesus, He brings peace in the midst of the storm in every challenge of life."

Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association also shared this message, "I will always appreciate her example of leadership and her life of integrity.

"I'm especially grateful for the queen's friendship with my father Billy Graham. He cherished their friendship that was built on a shared love for Jesus Christ and belief in God's Word.

"She will be profoundly missed."
