The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) has announced the creation of the Billy Graham Defense Fund to help Christians in the UK share their faith without fear of legal or policy challenges.
The initiative follows a series of canceled events in 2020, when Franklin Graham was scheduled to preach in eight UK cities.
Seven venues pulled out despite signed contracts, prompting BGEA to take legal action.
Courts later ruled in the ministry’s favor, awarding £500,000 in compensation.
When asked exactly how the money will support Christians in the UK, Justin Arnot from the association told Premier that discussions are ongoing, but they will be “making grants to organizations that do the legal work to support Christians.”
He added that they are focused on what they can do “to bring greater awareness of the tensions in the religious liberty and free speech space for police officers… maybe the authorities are part of those solutions.”
The fund will provide a variety of resources for legal support, ensuring believers can continue to live out and share their faith openly.
