Two individuals linked to the investigation into Christian persecution charity Barnabas Aid have been arrested by Wiltshire Police. 

The force confirmed to Premier Christian News that the suspects were arrested on 7th November "in connection with an ongoing fraud investigation".

“A man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s were arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation and money laundering," they said.

"They have been released on bail pending further enquiries." 

Wiltshire Police noted that the action was "part of an active investigation into allegations of fraud linked to a Wiltshire-based charity", which Premier understands to be Barnabas Aid. 

The Charity Commission launched a statutory inquiry into Barnabas Aid last year following allegations of financial misconduct and a toxic work environment.

The commission later announced it had placed financial sanctions on the charity to “protect the charity’s income and assets” and, earlier this month, said it was investigating four more charities linked to Barnabas Aid.
