Most Rev Justin Welby reached the summit of the Somerset hill, which is topped by the tower of St Michael's Church, on the second day of a three-day visit to Bath and Wells Diocese.
Joined by local clergy, church-goers and members of other faith and spiritual groups, he led prayers at the landmark before address a gathering of several hundred people in ministry in Wells Cathedral.
On Tuesday morning, Archbishop Justin attended a morning Eucharist service at St Mary's Church in Chard and later visited a Call the Midwife service for new mums and mums-to-be.
Wrapping up his visit on Wednesday, he will attend a breakfast with diocesan young vocation advisers and young people, ahead of speaking at to students at Bath Spa University on the theme of "Faith: Good, bad or indifferent?"
Also on the schedule for Most Rev Justin Welby, is attending the Bath Christian Action Network's (BathCAN) annual conference and a visit to Bath Abbey where he will learn more about repair plans.
