Anna Faris: 'My son wants me to become a Christian'

by Donna Birrell

The Hollywood actress Anna Faris says her son is keen for her to become a Christian.

The Scary Movie star shares a 14 year old son, Jack with her ex-husband Marvel star Chris Pratt. The actor has spoken openly about his devout Christian faith and their son is now becoming more vocal about his own religious beliefs.

Faris, who was divorced from Pratt in 2017, said Jack had asked her to accept Jesus Christ into her life. Speaking to Chelsea Handler’s Dear Chelsea podcast, the 49 year old said she told him: “I would do anything for him, including this, but it’s going to take a whole lot of long conversations.”

She said that while Jack is religious, she herself didn’t grow up in a religious household. However, she said she is grateful they can have long conversations about faith and is  “appreciative” that her son is “examining religion”. She said they were also challenging each other around certain issues: "I’m like, ‘Do you think it’s a luxury that you get to be pro-life? Do you think that’s kind of a luxury?' And he’s like, ‘Maybe.' Or I’ll say, ‘What do you think of this mega pastor that’s kind of a grifter?’ And he’s like, ‘Oh, mega pastors are the worst.’ So it’s like, ‘Okay, he’s getting there.’”

Jack suffered a severe cerebral haemorrhage after being born prematurely and Pratt has in the past described how his survival ultimately restored his own faith in God. He said: “We were scared for a long time. We prayed a lot. It restored my faith in God, not that it needed to be restored, but it really redefined it”.
