An American priest has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after being found guilty of stealing from a charity fund that helped the poor.
Revd Timothy Kane will serve his sentence over five years and will be behind bars in the months of June and December plus eight weekends.
A jury rejected the 58-year-old's denial of six counts related to theft from the Angel Fund in Detroit.
He's also been told to pay around 84 thousand pounds back.
The priest had originally signed a confession but in court said he was confused at the time because of his diabetes.
He's now been removed from his position at St. Moses the Black parish in Detroit.
Jurors heard how the priest had an agreement with a prisoner that people would make fake requests from the Angel Fund which Revd Kane would approve.
He could have faced up to 20 years behind bars.
