A Christian book shop is moving into a former bookmakers in Darlington.

Footprints has been serving the town for 60 years and has been in its current premises for 30.

With its lease running out, it's decided to take over the new premises which used to be home to a William Hill.

Speaking to the Darlington and Stockton Times, Sue Carpenter, who has been the shop manager for 20 years, said the move would increase the number of people they were able to reach.

"We're a Christian bookshop so we're basically an extension of the Church and because we're going to be in a more densely populated area of the town with more footfall, especially opposite Taylor's the Butchers, we're expecting to make more people aware of the gifts and products we provide and to connect with more people in the town.

It's hoped the new premises will be up and running by the second week of the New Year.
