A man from Wiltshire is set to stand trial accused of attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in Devizes town centre.
According to the Wiltshire Times, Kubilay Bostanli, 26, of Anzio Road, who allegedly stabbed a victim twice in the neck, blames his actions on the "voice of God", a court has been told.
Bostanli denies attempting to murder another man during an incident on 29th June 2024.
Police cordoned off Estcourt Street after a man in his 20s was reportedly stabbed. Bostanli was later arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
He has also pleaded not guilty to additional charges, including making threats to kill, assaulting an emergency worker, and wounding with intent.
The trial at Winchester Crown Court started on Monday and is expected to last until Friday 17th January.
Bostanli has been in custody since first appearing at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on 1st July 2024.
During an 18th December hearing, he admitted to several other offences, including possession of a knife, harassment, assault by beating, and inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
The defendant will remain in custody until the trial begins.
