Vice President JD Vance has a new book coming soon that explores his religious faith and conversion to Catholicism as an adult.
'Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith' comes out June 16, the HarperCollins Publishers imprint Harper confirmed with The Associated Press.
“The story of how I regained my faith, of course, only happened because I had lost it to begin with,” Vance said in a statement. “The interesting question that hangs over this book, and over my mind, is why I ever strayed from the path. Why the Christian faith of my youth failed to properly take root.”
Vance said he evolved from Christianity to atheism to Catholicism. He converted in 2019, crediting his new faith with giving him a sense of purpose that didn’t come through his education at Yale University or his work in the financial industry.
Vance’s announcement comes as a result of wide speculation that he will run for President in 2028. It’s not unusual for Presidential hopefuls to release a book before launching a campaign.
HarperCollins told the AP that he wrote the 304-page book himself and is something he has been working on it since 2019. It will also include some details about his life in politics.
