A vicar from Wales who was brought to tears by poverty in his community is one of many provding free Christmas Day meals this year.
Father Dominic Cawdell from St Peter's in Holywell, Flintshire, already hosts free meals every Monday and aims to feed roughly 80 people on Christmas Day.
He told the BBC: "it is heartbreaking, I spend most Monday evenings in tears."
On Monday he fed 196 people at his church and said that for many it was the only hot meal they would have that week.
Father Cawdell said he is looking forward to hosting their eight Christmas Day lunch at the church, excluding two years when the Covid-19 pandemic was happening.
Ammanford Evangelical Church in Carmarthenshire, St Thomas Church in Swansea, St John's Church in Nelson Caerphilly are part of many churches providing free Christmas dinners this year.
Across the UK the Salvation Army will also be providing Christmas dinners this year to older people living alone.
