In a new document the Catholic Church outlines its negative view of the surgery which includes facelifts and tummy tucks.
Changing your appearance through surgery can "amputate the expressive possibilities of the human face, which are so connected to empathic abilities" and "can be aggressive toward the feminine identity, showing a refusal of the body," the document said.
The report was prepared by a panel of female consultants and looks at the challenges facing women in society and the Church.
It was seen by the Catholic website Crux.
It also accepts that women can work as top managers in society but not in the Church.
