The United Reformed Church won't be hosting gay weddings just yet.
General Secretary Revd John Proctor suggested there was a 'clear majority' in favour of opting into the new laws but said the Church needed a 'full consensus'.
Local congregations are being invited to give their views ahead of a decision next March.
The Church already allows civil partnerships in its buildings.
