The Christian faith has lost a "five star general" - that's how Bishop Wayne Malcolm from Christian Life City described Dr Tayo Adeyemi, who died yesterday.
Pastor Tayo, the leader of New Wine Church in London, passed away in hospital after battling illness. His family were there but not at his side.
A statement from New Wine Church said: "With a heavy heart but gratitude to God for a life of significant service to God and positive influence to humanity, the leadership of New Wine Church announces the home-going of our Senior Minister - Dr. Tayo Adeyemi on Sunday 30th June at 2:00pm.
"We are grateful to God for the life Dr. Tayo lived and the impact he made during his time with us.
"At this point we request that you remember Dr. Tayo's wife, his three sons, the Adeyemi and the entire New Wine Church families in your prayers during this difficult period."
Bishop Wayne told Premier:
"He was someone whose life literally touched and inspired millions of people.
"A man with an outstanding gift as an orator and teacher with such profound insight into the word of God.
"He lived to empower others".
Tributes are flooding in to the church's website with many calling him a great leader who built his church in Greenwich from nothing to a congregation of 2,500.
"Pastor Tayo you were a great man of God.
"I remember when we used to meet in West Greenwich house and how I had told you that you were going places and it was too great and how the Lord had said when you get to that high place to maintain your meekness and humility because it may get into your head and how we laughed about it. "Little did I know your time was short on the earth. I cannot but remember our laughs and fights together.
"As my spiritual father you thought I was stubborn but I only had a mind of my own.
"I will miss you greatly and thoroughly. I know you are at peace now and in glory. However, your family down here will miss you and I pray your soul rests in peace."
Another one said:
"I just heard the sad news of Pastor Tayo's passing on Sunday.
"As I write this the tears are streaming down my face as I think about his teachings that I listened to every evening on Premier Christian radio.
"He was motivational, inspirational and a Father figure to many. He wasn't just the pastor of New Wine Church, he was the peoples pastor.
"My thoughts are with Pastor Tayo's immediate family, the leadership team and members of New Wine Church at this time. May God's comfort and love surround you all."
Bishop John Francis is the leader of Ruach Ministries and was a friend of Dr Tayo. He tells Premier he had a huge impact on many people:
"My own two daughters were just crying yesterday.
"He's left a mega legacy behind so we need to just pray for comfort and strength at this time for the family and the church."
Dr Tayo was born in Leeds to Nigerian parents before he left at an early age for Nigeria, where he graduated as a medical doctor. When he was a young boy he became a Christian and would spend hours digesting the Bible and praying.
He said he received the call of God upon his life while doing a summer vacation job in 1981.
Sitting behind an office desk, doing his work, he believed he saw an open vision, in which Jesus Christ walked into the room and told him:
"I want you to take my sheep out of the dry places and feed them in green pastures".
While in medical school, Dr Tayo help set up a students' fellowship, which grew to a movement of more than 3,000 students in well over 30 Nigerian Universities and colleges in a space of five years.
He was also actively involved in starting three chapters of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship in different parts of the country.
He returned to England with the intention of pursuing a residency programme in General Surgery and later, Neurosurgery but instead went on to set up his church.
Alongside pastoring a church, Dr Tayo travelled the world ministering in places such as Australia, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, South Africa, Tanzania, United Arab Emirates and the United States.
Details about his funeral will be released shortly once all the arrangements are in place.
At the request of his church, Pastor Tayo's ministry programme New Horizons will continue to air on Premier Christian Radio at 6.15pm, Monday to Wednesday.
