Evelyn Celgy, from Crewe, Cheshire, was killed outside Nottingham's Capital FM Arena when her dad drove away from the pick up point.
Thomas Celgy told the inquest he drove off in his Nissan Qashqai at a slow speed and did not see his daughter in front of the car.
The family, originally from the Kerala region of India, were set to attend a Catholic Bible convention when the accident happened.
HM Coroner for Nottinghamshire Mairin Casey said it was "one of the most tragic cases" she has seen.
It was clear Mr Celgy was not at fault, she said.
"This was an incident that happened by chance without an apparent cause. It was unexpected. It was unpredictable."
"I know you will have gone through this in your mind many, many times.
"This is a case that I can describe cause that in many ways is a very simple forensic case but in terms of the level of tragedy involved, it is difficult to imagine a more tragic scenario."
At the time of the accident the family released a statement: "We would like to pass our sincere thanks to Nottinghamshire Police, the paramedics, A & E staff and staff on the P.I.C.U (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit) ward at the hospital for all their compassion, sympathy, support and care provided.
"Special thanks to the hospital chaplain who was a great source of comfort.
"Thank you to the community, our family and friends for all their support, including our family liaison officer from Cheshire Police.
"We now request privacy whilst we come to terms with our loss."
